Unit Economics

The per-customer (or per-unit) revenue and cost breakdown of a business, used to test whether the underlying model makes money before layering on top-of-funnel spend. Classic metrics: CAC, LTV, gross margin, payback period, contribution margin. Hockey's reframe: in high-switching-cost B2B, unit economics aren't a finance spreadsheet — they're a trust signal to buyers who need to know you'll still exist in 10 years.
