Who they are
Swiss software engineer best known as one of the Gang of Four authors of Design Patterns (1994), the most influential software engineering book of its generation. Later led the design of the Eclipse platform at IBM and, at Microsoft, was one of the architects of Visual Studio Code, which became the dominant editor of the 2010s–2020s. A rare engineer whose influence shaped how a generation of developers think, write, and build tools.
