Where to Improve

1. Committing to Strategy Without Sufficient Research

  • Sometimes commits to a strategy before doing enough homework.
  • Example: When introducing the Free plan to compete with Featurebase, overlooked how the plan should demonstrate specific benefits over Runway plan.
  • Didn't adequately compare existing and legacy plans while crafting the new features.
  • "I believe you could have taken more time to think strategically before finalizing those details."

2. Revisit Free + Startup Plan Approach

  • Suggests reconsidering offering both startup plans and the free plan simultaneously.
  • Feels this is worth evaluating further before finalizing.

My Read on This

Sathi is flagging a specific pattern: moving fast on pricing/positioning decisions without enough competitive analysis. The Free plan launch against Featurebase was reactive rather than strategic — it didn't clearly articulate why FeatureOS Free > Featurebase Free.

This connects directly to the SupportWire pricing work happening now. The lesson: before finalizing SupportWire's pricing, do the comparison work thoroughly. Don't just set prices — build the argument for why each tier wins against the specific alternative the customer is considering.
